The Sherwani Story

Talking about mens ethnic wears for wedding, traditional Sherwanis are the most fabulous one.

SHERWANI, also known as “Achkan” originated from the Mughal dynasty. Since 1820s’, predominantly at Lucknow, it was slowly incorporating in Indian culture. At the late 18th century it had almost became a sign of royalty and aristocracy. Beside India, sherwanis are equally famous at Pakistan and Bangladesh.
Being an integral part of both Hindu and Muslim weeding ceremony, dazzling sherwanis , complementing the groom are now on trend. So proper choice and knowledge becomes a key point.

Jodhpuri Sherwani or Jodhpuri Suit

One of the most precious and jaw dropping Sherwani in the queue is also known as “Bandgala” due its elevated collars.
Jodhpuris’ are perfect blend of Western and Indian style. Its shape resembles formal western suit yet parried up with gorgeous embroidery work.
A match of lavish waist coat and trouser glorifies it.
Accessories like pagdi (turban) with “kalgi” tipping on it, studded with semi-precious stone and a contrasting dupatta makes a groom look splendid.

Achkan or Rajput Sherwani

Pakistani Sherwani

Upper half of the sherwani is narrow while lower part is broadened.

Chipkan type sherwani

Last but not least the most royal one-Chipkans is originated from Mughal craftsmanship. It somewhat looks like a frock, wore with sleeveless long jacket.

Chipkans made up of silk with intricated zari and stone work makes it extremely impressive.

You should be careful about tailoring. Fitting is on top of the priority list.

Colours like red, maroon, golden yellow along with creamy white are appropriate for this occasion and equally suits with any complexion.
If comfort is the prime issue then light wear printed Indo-western sherwanis are best buy.
Selection of accessories is another most important concern.
