Manila is known to be a busy city. Some people hate the ambiance of Manila, but some want to enjoy and explore Manila. Manila also has a lot of relaxing places to go with your family, friends or even workmates.

There are lots of things to do in Manila, and one of the best things to do here is to explore its hidden beauty. Here are some places in Manila that surely worthy of your time.

Rizal Monument

It is a monument of the Philippines’ most influential and national hero, Dr. Jose P. Rizal. Aside from the monument itself, there are outdoor activities within the area and manicured lawns perfect for selfies. Rizal Monument is an open park so tracking it with your smartphones or maps will be easy. You can ride a taxi going there. The park is open from 5 am to 9 pm.

Manila Ocean Park

An amusement park in Manila with an 8,000 square meters ocean museum, Manila Ocean Park is said to be bigger than the one in Singapore. You can see thousands of sea creatures that are indigenous in Southeast Asia. You may visit its website to learn more about its promos. It is open from 10 am to 8 pm.

Intramuros

Brace yourself for seeing the historic Philippines. The place features a stretch of old stone walls hence the moniker ‘Walled City.’ You may explore the site by walking or by riding a kalesa, a Filipino style coach drawn by a horse. Within the walls are the old houses and buildings that the Filipino people used before. You can also see some museums there as well as fortifications. If you want to take home some souvenirs, stores selling different native materials are very accessible everywhere.

Binondo

It is known to be the world’s first China Town. A lot of Chinese immigrants live here. This town’s language is still Tagalog, but because of the influence of their ancestors, people there widely use Minnan. You can see a handful of Chinese temples built even before the Spaniards came and arches as well as famous Chinese restaurants.  Chinese foods and delicacies are also on the list so don’t miss out sampling them. A taxi ride going there is the most feasible transport mode although there are MRT, jeepneys and buses too.

Cultural Center of the Philippines

A famous Filipino Architect, Leandro Locsin designed this intricately beautiful building. It was owned by the government and controlled for the preservation of Philippine arts and culture noted in a Presidential Decree by the late President Ferdinand Marcos. It is open from 7 am until 9 pm. You can enjoy the very astonishing view in front of the building and take pictures of its fantastic water display. The place is best to visit during the night because the structure and water display combined with lights and is indeed one of the great and memorable things to do in Manila.

SM Mall of Asia

Looking for its name might not interest you since it’s just a “mall” in which a place you often go window shopping and running errands. But MOA, its nickname, is not your typical mall. It is the fourth largest mall in the Philippines. You can also enjoy taking pictures of its beautiful architectural structures and highlighted portions of the mall. The mall opens from 11 A.M. until 11 P.M.

Manila is indeed a busy place. But still, people’s business cannot stop Manila from, giving us exciting and fun places to go. Despite its large and uncountable industrial infrastructures, Manila never fails to highlight significant and historical sites for us enjoy and for our generations to learn.
