Perfect Destinations for the Eco-Conscious traveler in 2022

Marie Nieves January 10, 2022

The last couple of years really put some things into perspective for all of us, didn’t they?  You remember those times we were locked in our homes and we’ve seen the dolphins start visiting the Grand Canal in Venice once again? We got a really good glimpse of how the world would look if we only hit a break from time to time and allow nature to thrive with us.

Of course, as soon as we started traveling once again, the world quickly fell back in line but there are still quite a few locations in the world that remind us why is so important to take care of the environment and thread lightly across this world we inherited.

Let’s take a look at a couple of such destinations and see how we can get back in touch with nature in 2022.

Fjords in Norway

Norway is one of the prime examples of the country that can achieve an extremely developed economy, high living standard, and do that all without producing a considerable environmental impact. Even despite the country’s developed petroleum industry, Norwegian fjords are the pristine example of wild, intact, and stunning Scandinavian beauty. Coming here is like coming to the edge of the world, so you get a real once-in-a-lifetime experience. If you have a soul of an explorer, breathing in the cold, icy air and visiting these ancient Viking shores will definitely bring you back to some long-lost times.

Fjord Norway

Montague Island, Australia

Montague Island is probably one of the most interesting tourist destinations in the world. Located just off the south-east coast of Australia and all its amenities, this piece of paradise features a truly amazing eco-system that consists of 19 different bird species, countless varieties of fish, seals, whales, and, if you visit the island at the right time of the year (September to February), even penguins. That is something you can find in very few places on this beautiful planet. So, pay a visit to the Land Down Under sign up for one of the guided Montague Island tours and see what this jewel has to offer.

Costa Rica

Now, you might be wondering, how can you list one entire country as a tourist destination? Well, in the case of Costa Rica that’s entirely possible since this nation is riddled with too many scenic and beautiful rain forests, hanging bridges, waterfalls, volcanoes, and the wild animals freely roaming around to even count. But, if we had to narrow down the list to a couple of locations you should most definitely visit, we would definitely mention Manual Antonio National park for a piece of intact Pacific coast, as well as Lapa Rios Lodge and Monteverde Cloud forest for a more feral, jungle experience.

Costa Rica

Kenya

Once again, we are going to cheat and list the entire country as a tourist destination. But, that’s just like Kenya is – a massive puzzle that consists of beautiful wild animals (lions, leopards, elephants, rhinos, and buffalos), beautiful African high and low lands, and a truly extraordinary coastline. Also, we would like to mention that Kenya is actively promoting responsible tourism practices that should promote the life of associated communities without hurting a natural environment which is a truly commendable move. We suggest you start with the nation’s crown jewel Aberdare National Park.

Galapagos Islands, Ecuador

Last but not least, we simply had to mention the Galapagos Islands in Ecuador. This volcanic archipelago reached legendary status for its amazing biodiversity so it’s really no surprise it was this exact corner of the world that served Charles Darwin as an inspiration to write his seminal work Origin of Species. What makes Galapagos Islands even more extraordinary is the fact that a huge quantity of the life you can find here (as much as 97% of reptiles and 80% of land birds) are endemic (you can’t see them anywhere else in the world. A great reminder of how much life is fragile and worth preserving.

Galapagos

We hope these few mentions gave you a couple of ideas where you can spend your next vacation and get in touch with Mother Nature again. Over the last couple of years, the world started making big steps in the eco-friendly direction. We only need to be reminded about just how beautiful our planet can be to make that extra effort and get to the finish line. Now, you have a pretty good place to start.
