My Experience Sailing In Croatia

AlexD January 27, 2017

I have recently got back from a one week vacation in the beautiful country of Croatia. I have had the amazing opportunity of exploring the different islands which are breathtaking in their own right. The best thing about discovering what Croatia has to offer is being blown away by the natural landscape of the country. It’s the perfect destination for discerning travelers who are looking for a mixture of sightseeing, socializing and relaxation. Everyone will be able to enjoy the exciting activities and destinations Croatia has to offer. My friends and I decided to go on a cruise to experience all that Croatia has to offer.

Our ship departed from Split and we started to travel down the coast of Croatia. Our first stop was at the beautiful island of Hvar. We were able to explore Hvar Town and Stari Grad. Since we were given a lot of time to explore the island, we were able to sample various types of food from their most popular restaurants and cafes. The seafood was incredible as they were freshly caught that same morning. It was the juiciest and most scrumptious seafood feast my friends and I have ever eaten. Personally, I was most excited to visit Korcula since it is the birth place of Marco Polo who is the most popular European to travel Asia during the Middle Ages.

I love discovering the history and culture of the places I visit and Croatia has a very rich historical background. I was very glad to have the opportunity of visiting various ancient monuments and cathedrals. Besides visiting Korcula, my favorite part of the trip was visiting the Mljet National Park. I loved seeing the amazing salt lakes and the natural beauty of the island. It was very serene and picturesque which made me appreciate nature even more. We had the chance to go kayaking and swimming for a few hours during our visit. The Makarska Riviera has the highest mountains in the Med and it was truly breathtaking.

The captain would also moor up in unspoilt bays of the islands so that we could enjoy a less crowded atmosphere. I really enjoyed swimming in the calm waters of the Adriatic Bay. The food on board was extremely delicious since it’s made out of the freshest ingredients. When evening came, we were allowed to step ashore to visit the most popular cafes, restaurants and bars. We were also given the option to avail of exciting activities such as wine tasting or buggy safari.

My friends and I decided to take a day trip to Old Town instead. It was located in the city of Mostar which is specifically in Bosnia. Our cabin was very clean and the amenities were impeccable. The captain and the crew were all so friendly and accommodating which made our trip even more memorable. Sailing in Croatia is the ultimate unwinding and relaxation experience for anyone who wants to destress from their hectic work schedules. It’s also perfect for couples, families and coworkers since everyone will surely have a great time exploring the amazing country of Croatia.
